Located in Palatine, Illinois, Angler's International Resources  celebrated their grand opening this past weekend (October 13th and 14th, 2007), and TackleReviewer was there to provide full coverage.

Compared to the large retail shops in the Chicagoland Area, smaller bait and tackle shops can easily be overlooked. AIR carries products that arent carried by the larger chains. In fact, even on opening day they were already carrying products that are not on the shelves elsewhere.

The knowledge of Angler's International Resources was top notch. The associates are actual fishermen, and not some some kid who knows minimal at best, about tackle. Many are well known in the community, especially on local radio shows such as 560 AM Wind. Managers Steve New, and Al Eringis can both be heard on 560 AM on a weekly basis. The show airs live every Saturday morning from 8 to 9 on News Talk 560 WIND . Other recent guests have included Babe Winkelman, Jimmy Houston, Joe Bucher, Ron Lindner and Jay Yelas.

AIR also had tackle representatives on hand, including Shimano. The Shimano representative was showcasing the new reels and explaining the latest advancements with their Spinning line, as well as the Cumara rods, and Core reels.  I got my hands on the Shimano Cumara and Core setup, and was amazed at the smooth casting, and light properties of the paired duo.

Other areas of the shop includes a huge fish tank that greets anglers as they enter the store. We got to see a live feeding, and witnessed the bass, crappie, and bluegill who call the store their new home.
